I am enjoying the change that I made from Tumblr to Posterous thus far.
It's been a refreshing change in terms of the way I post stuff, and there's been good feedback overall (although there was one downside mentioned from Bearant -> he said he noticed that the site loads slower than when it was on Tumblr. I believe that this is likely NOT due to Posterous per se, but due to the recent plethora of animated gifs that I had on Page One. Perhaps I will try to limit those comedy gems for a week and see if it has any effect.)
The big bonus for things on my end has been site views
. On an average day, I would get anywhere from a dozen to twenty unique visits on the old Tumblr site. (sometimes, if I posted something that got "reblogged" by others, the site views would go up a tidy amount….like when I posted this
and it got reblogged and I clocked a few hundred hits a day for a few days….which led to an inevitable bum parade on the site).
Well, I've been using Posterous for less than 2 weeks and I have had over 800 site visits. Additionally, in terms of "followers" or "subscriptions": on Tumblr (which I used for more than a year and a half) I have 10 followers (who are fellow Tumblr-ers). In less than 2 weeks on Posterous, I've had 3 people subscribe to my site so far.
I don't know how they've come across the site, and furthermore: after looking at their sites, I don't know why in God's name they want to subscribe to mine. (i.e. don't seem like "wacky" people or anything). I'm not complaining, mind you. I find it all just so curious.
And speaking of curious AND "followers": I received notification that the other day I have a new follower
on my Tumblr site (which is just a mirror of this one). Check out that person's site
….as you can imagine, I said to myself: "What the Fatch??"
One more thing: tumblr, posterous, follower, site, reblog, parenthesis.
